Face
Lift
Over time, the long-term
effects of gravity, exposure to sun, dry air, and general stress takes
its toll on an individual's face and neckline. Jowls can develop
under the jawline with folds and fat deposits. Sometimes creases
begin to form between the nose and the mouth.
A facelift can
considerably reduce these signs of aging by removing excess fat,
tightening the underlying muscles, and redraping the skin around the
neck and face. Facelifts can be done alone, or frequently
performed in conjunction with another procedure such as a
browlift, eyelid surgery, or nose reshaping. If your problem areas
are limited to the neck, a more conservative procedure, known as a
"platysmaplasty"
will be recommended. In some cases, a facelift can reduce the
outward signs of aging by ten or fifteen years.
Rhinoplasty
Rhinoplasty
(surgery to reshape the nose) can change the size of your nose
(smaller or bigger), take off a hump, change the shape of the
tip, narrow the span of the nostrils, or change the angle
between your nose and your upper lip. It may also correct a
birth defect or injury, or help relieve some breathing problems
by straitening the septum. There are so many possible ways to
change the appearance of the nose that it's important that you
have a specific idea of what you would like corrected.
In general, the nose takes its shape from the cartilage and bony
framework that underlies the skin. This delicate relationship
between these structures is what is altered during the reshaping
process. Incisions are very well hidden inside the nose,
and occasionally, a small incision is made in the shadow line
under the nose. By removing, adding, or changing the position of
the cartilages, bones and soft tissue, your desired nose shape
can be achieved.
Blepharoplasty
Eyelid
surgery (blepharoplasty) is a procedure that restores a more
youthful, well-rested, and vibrant appearance to the eyes by
redistributing fat bags and removing excess skin and muscle from
the upper and lower
eyelids. Eyelid surgery can correct drooping upper lids, puffy
bags above and below your eyes, redundant upper eyelid skin, and
hanging lower lid skin, all features that can give you the
appearance of being older and more tired than you feel,
and may even interfere with your vision. While it can add an
upper eyelid crease to Asian eyes, it will not erase evidence of
your ethnic or racial heritage. Blepharoplasty can be done
alone, or in conjunction with other cosmetic procedures such as
a facelift or a browlift, and the incisions are very difficult
to see because they are hidden in your natural creases. Both men
and women benefit greatly from this procedure and achieve good
results with nearly invisible scars.
Otoplasty
Otoplasty
is performed to set back a person's ear which are basically too
prominent. These are normally performed on children, although it
is not uncommon for adults to have this procedure. The minimum
age is 5 years. The recovery period for both children and adults
is 5-7 days.
Lip
Enhancement
A
variety of techniques are now available for lip enhancement. The purpose
of lip enhancement is to give the lips a fuller and therefore more
youthful appearance.
Collagen replacement
therapy can offer excellent immediate results. However, like your own
collagen, your body will eventually absorb this and ongoing treatment is
necessary to maintain results. Treatments generally last 3-6 months, but
each individual re-absorbs the collagen at varying rates, so results can
be different. Injections are performed in the office and can be done on
your lunch hour.
More permanent
methods are available through fat grafting and "alloderm"
grafting. These techniques are permanent, although touch-ups may be
required from time to time to maintain desired fullness. The procedure
is performed under local anesthesia in our office surgical suite. You
are able to go home following the procedure, but you will need someone to
drive you home. Swelling and some bruising will be present immediately
following the procedure and can take up to two weeks to completely
disappear.
