Breast
Augmentation
Millions
of women are unhappy with their breast size. Breast augmentation is
performed to enhance a woman's natural breast shape. Most women who
choose to have breast surgery do so to improve their self image or to
restore their natural breast volume, which may have decreased as a
result of pregnancy, weight loss or aging.
During the consultation,
Dr. Kasabian will discuss your specific cosmetic goals for surgery. He
will help you understand the factors that may affect your results, such
as the size and shape of your breasts, the quality of your skin and the
placement of your nipples and areola. In addition, Dr. Kasabian will
discuss the surgical options for breast enhancement.
The Procedure:
A saline implant is placed in the breast, either
above or below the muscle. Dr. Kasabian prefers the sub muscular
technique, but all surgical procedures are individually evaluated. The
incision is small and is usually made underneath the breast, but can
also be placed within the armpit. Breast augmentation is usually
performed on an outpatient basis and takes about one hour. You will need
someone to assist you the first 24 hours following the surgery and bed
rest is recommended for the first couple of days. A detailed instruction
sheet will help you during your recovery. You can usually return to work
in 3-5 days and resume most activities by 2 weeks following your
surgery.
Breast
Lift
A
breast lift can enhance your appearance and your self-confidence by
raising and reshaping saggy misshapen breasts. Factors such as
aging, pregnancy, nursing, and the force of gravity all stretch the skin
and supportive ligaments of the breasts, and as a result, the skin loses
its elasticity, the breasts lose their shape and firmness, and begin to
sag.
By removing excess skin
and tightening supportive structures, perkier, shapelier breasts with
the appropriate sized areola and the nipples in its proper position can
be recreated. If your breasts are small or have lost volume, such as
after pregnancy, breast implants can be inserted through the same
incisions and at the same time as the breast lift is performed to
increase both firmness and size of the breasts.
Breast
Reduction
Large,
pendulous breasts may cause a woman to potentially experience various
medical problems caused by the excessive weight of the breast tissue.
Problems with posture, skeletal deformities, back and neck pain, skin
irritations and nerve irritations of the fingers are common with this
condition. Bra straps often leave indentations in the shoulder
area. Many women, especially teenage girls, are very
self-conscious if they have unusually large breasts. With breast
reduction surgery, women of all ages are able to have breasts that are
better shaped and in proportion.
Breast reduction
(reduction
mammoplasty) removes fat,
glandular tissue, and excessive skin, resulting in smaller, lighter and
firmer breasts that are better-shaped in proportion to rest of the body.
